The Scrapbook Shop offers a wide variety of classes for you to learn new techniques, work with new products, and create beautiful projects for gifts, your scrapbook albums, or your home. Below you will find a list of classes, descriptions, and photos of the project that will offered in the upcoming month. A calendar is available in our Newsletter or in the store. Visit The Shop and the talented teachers and staff for more information and to see the wonderful projects in person.****Basic Class kit is required for all classes.  Other supplies maybe needed - check the descriptions and with the store for anymore information:)

Interactive Layout Class:   #1  Memorabilia Envelope

Date:  Wednesday, August 25, 2010  6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Cost:  $20

Create this lovely layout using our new banana leaf paper as an accent and Tim Holtz’s new Tattered Florals die.  This layout will hold photos plus any special keepsakes you have from the occasion.  Most papers will be pre-cut, there will be some hand cutting in the class.  Class size is limited please sign up today to reserve space for you and a friend.

Bring your page protectors to class for assistance in cutting them to access the memorabilia envelope.  Please bring a craft knife and ruler to cut them. Photo Sizes:  (8) 4x3   Tools/Supplies:  12” paper trimmer, scoring tool/bone folder, sharp scissors, tape runner, glue dots, foam tape/pop dots, chocolate colored ink & sponge for edge distressing, 1¼” circle punch, piercing tool, large-eyed needle.  There will be some tools available in class to share.

Interactive Layout Class:  #2  Journal Pullouts

Date:  Wednesday, September 29, 2010   6:00 – 8:00 p.m  .Cost:  $20

Pull this fun layout together using We R Memory Keepers Old Glory papers.  This is a versatile layout perfect for photos of scouting, family reunions, 4th of July, military, etc.  We will learn how to place fun hidden journal pullouts into a layout.  Most papers will be pre-cut, there will be some hand cutting in class.  Class size is limited please sign up today to reserve space for you and a friend.

Interactive Layout Class: #3 Page Window Pullout

Date:  Wednesday, September 8, 2010  6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Cost:  $20

Create this fun layout featuring a window with a pull-out.  Now you see it (journaling), pull the top tab and now you don’t (you see pictures).  This layout will showcase any outdoor photos.  Papers will be pre-cut.  Class size is limited please sign up today to reserve space for you and a friend.

 Photo Sizes:  (1) 8x10, (3) 4x6, (2) 4x4½. Tools/Supplies:  sharp scissors, tape runner, glue dots, 3 feet of foam tape, 12” paper trimmer, black marker/pen for embellishing

Interactive Layout Class: #4 Revolving Door

Date:  Wednesday, September 15, 2010  6:00 – 8:00 p.m.Cost:  $20

Put a new spin on your layouts with these happy pages.  We will create a spinner which will show two photos at a time of the feature.  Most papers will be pre-cut, there will be some hand cutting.  Class size is limited please sign up today to reserve space for you and a friend. Bring your page protectors to class for assistance in placing the spinner.  Photo Sizes:  (4) 3x3 (to be trimmed into pie pieces), (2) 4x3, (2) 5x3

Interactive Layout Class: #5  Hidden Journaling

Date:  Wednesday, September 22, 2010 6:00 – 8:00p.m.  Cost:  $20

Cricut Phone Book Class

August 24th 6pm    Teacher: Kristi     Cost:  $25.00

Come and create this cute phone/address/notebook just in case your wireless company dumps your phone and you don’t have your numbers saved or your friends keep moving! All pieces are cut with the Cricut.

For the class you will need: Your Cricut & all cords, mat, deep cut blade (if your machine does not have the multi-cut option), a hole punch, sanding block, ink pads and adhesive. Also: a font cartridge with a shadow feature, one with a picture of a phone (I used ‘Summer in Paris), and one to cut pages.  The Mosaic Class

Teacher: Pam Lund

 

Pam will teach you how to make beautiful layouts using your exacto knife and a ruler.  We supply the photos for you to work with while you learn this great technique.  Please bring a corked backed ruler, cutting blade (exacto/Fiskars), cutting mat, dot adhesive and your class kit.

 


Kristi's Cricut 101 Class $30.00

September 13th  6:00pm

Kristi will cover the basics of your Cricut machine in this comprehensive hands-on class.
The functions of your Cricut machine will be covered. She will explain the parts of the machine as well as operation of the machine using mats and blades. Features of various cartridges will also be discussed. In class you will cut text, basic shapes and try layering and shadows. Everyone will get the chance to create some samples to take home. We will briefly touch on the similarities and differences of the three types of Cricut machines. (Cricut Personal Cutter, Cricut Expression & Cricut Create)

 ***Please bring to class: your Cricut machine, mat, George or Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, a paper trimmer, tape runner, and a glue pen.


Kristi's Cricut Design Studio Class $40.00

September 27th   6:00pm

Kristi will provide in-depth discussion in this Cricut class that covers the versatile Cricut
Design Studio software. Design Studio is an application that you purchase separately and
install on your home desktop or laptop computer. A USB cable is included to connect your
Cricut machine to your computer. The software allows you to design your cuts on screen, then
send them to your machine for cutting. You can cut basic letters and shapes and also perform
a multitude of other creative tasks like word welding, stretching, cutting with multiple
cartridges, layering, shadowing, and much more. Kristi will cover many of these techniques in
this comprehensive class. You will get to practice these functions and take home some samples. She will also cover installing the software (if necessary), editing and saving files.

 ***Please bring to class: your Cricut machine, laptop computer, Design Studio Software (preferably loaded, but don’t sweat it!), mat, George or Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, a paper trimmer, tape runner, and a glue pen. 


Kristi's Cricut Card (Intermediate) Class $40.00

September 20th 6pm

We will begin with a quick review of lessons learned in Cricut 101(Basics).  In this class you will have the opportunity to make two cards, two tags, or one of each.  Among the techniques used will be layering, shadowing, silhouette, framing, and show through.

Basically, you should begin picking a cartridge with a tag, card, or frame feature.  Most of these will be perfect for making cards in a 4" format.  Some of the cartridges we will use for this class are:

Kristi’s Gypsy I & II  NEW!!!!

September 11th   Part I   9:30am - 11:30pm  $25.00

September 11th  Part II  11:30am-3pm  $40.00   ***Both $50.00

 

Part I deals with registering your Gypsy, synching the software, and linking your cartridges to your Gypsy. This is all maintenance that needs to be done before you can begin to use your Gypsy with your Cricut. 

Please bring to Part I: your Gypsy and all cords; your laptop computer and all cords; your Cricut, and its cord and the cartridges you want to link to your Gypsy.

***If you do not have a laptop to bring to class please contact the instructor so that arrangements can be made for you. Part I of this class cannot be done without a computer.

 Part II will deal with the features and functions of your Gypsy. Prior to class please be sure to update the firmware on your Cricut, update your and, if not attending Part I, sync your Gypsy!  Prepare to be amazed at what your Gypsy can do. If you have worked with Design Studio, you are already somewhat familiar with the Gypsy’s functions, but this machine does so much more. We will look at welding, resizing, learn the zoom and pan features, flip, stretch and something secret that Design Studio can’t do!!!  

Please bring to Part II: your Gypsy with cartridges loaded, AC cord and Cricut cord; your Cricut, cords, cutting mat, at least one cartridge, 12” trimmer, adhesive, ruler, pen, and a willingness to learn!!

 
 

 


Class Policies

All classes are for ages 12 and up, unless otherwise indicated.  Registration and payment is required in advance for all events to guarantee your spot.  If you cannot attend your reserved class, a 48 hour notice is required to receive a credit.  Please be advised we reserve the right to cancel a class if minimum enrollment of at least three students is not met.

 When attending classes, we ask that you always bring a “class kit”- one form of photo safe adhesive, scissors and/or paper trimmer, and pens.  Other supplies may be required, please check the class description for required supplies prior to attending your scheduled class.

 If you do not have any of the supplies needed for your class, or you forget them, we will be happy to assist you in purchasing them at the time of the class.  When you attend a class, you will receive a 15% discount on your entire purchase on the day of the class.

Friday Night Crops and Crop Around the Clock

 Friday night crops cost $15 - dinner, soda, coffee, and chocolate are included and you  receive 10% off your purchase the night you attend the crop. Call ahead to reserve your chair.

Saturday crops will continue to be the second
Saturday of each month and cost $25. Longer than a Friday night, a light lunch, chocolate, soda, coffee and dinner are included.

If you register for both Friday & Saturday
the total cost will be $35! Plus you can leave your supplies here overnight!
